The following materials may not be used to cut or engrave on the Boss laser cutter in Emory's TechLab.

  • PVC/ Any plastic containing or chlorine
  • Polycarbonate, Lexan
  • Vinyl
  • Polytetrafluoroethylene (PFTE), Teflon
  • HDPE
  • Self-adhesive material or material with sticky backing
  • Vinyl containing foams
  • Coated Carbon Fiber
  • Fiberglass
  • Polyoxymethylene, Delrin
  • Polypropylene
  • Rubber, Elastomer
  • Styrene, Polystyrene, foamboard, Foam Core, styrofoam, Depron foam, Gator foam
  • Tritan copolymer

Foam

  • Vinyl containing foams

Wood

  • Coniferous and oily woods
  • Formaldehyde containing MDF, HDF, Engineered
  • Adhesive or resin filled

Textiles

  • Chromium tanned leather
  • Pleather or artificial leather

Metals

Other

  • Materials marked "flame-retardant"
  • Glued materials
  • Food
